Week-end to remember

Hi good people,

I had a wonderful week-end that I wished never ended. An NGO known as Push Africa which is into organising tours, excursions and other activities for colleges and universities in Africa organized a tour to some tourist sites in the Central Region of Ghana for some students from Nigeria over the week-end. In fact I would have regretted had I not gone on this trip. I loved every bit of it and want to encourage my Naija blogville to start thinking of coming down for one such tour.

I had a few shots that I want to share with you hope you love them. Anyway the sites were the Cape Coast Castle in Cape Coast and Kakum National Park also in Kakumdo a town in Cape Coast. Lets get along................

On board the bus to Cape Coast

A part of Cape Coast

As I rest on a pillar outside the castle

The Cape Coast Castle, housed slaves to be transported to Europe

Some tourists at the site

Behind me are the round metallic bullets (they've been there for over 300 years

Some wreathe laid by tourists for departed ancestors

A shrine in the castle where libation is poued for departed souls

A plaque of regret by the National House of Chiefs for 'selling' their people to the white man

I sat in silence to ponder about the whole slave trade stuff

The tourist guide talking to the tourists about the shrine

The tombs of Saptain George McLean and his wife

Most of the slave masters slept with female slaves from this dungeon

Our people went through this door and never came back

A landing beach behind the castle

Myself
The condemned cell without windows

Two colleagues of mine, Aziz and Ahmed
Strong energeticn healthy men were housed here to be exported to Europe
I perspired like pregnant fish in the cell
A plaque unveiled by US President Barack Obama when he visited in 2009
I had no choice than to join these white ladies for a pix

Some members of the group

Arriving at the game and wildlife park

My self and Aziz needed some energy before climbing

Tourists having lunch ready to set off

Climbing the 250m above sea level mountain
where the canopy walk is located

Had to remove my shoes to aid my walk

With my heart in my hands, I walked up in the sky
The tree and ropes holding the hanging canopy walk way

The wonderful group from Naija

  4. U can say that again. That place is even better, at the Elmina Castle you can smell human blood, as if the slavery ended just yesterday. Thanks for commenting
