President John Mahama files his tax returns today

President John Mahama has filed his tax returns this morning, Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Kinbu Office of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Article 68 (5) of the 1992 Constitution exempts the President from paying taxes.  It is nonetheless incumbent on the President to file his tax returns every year.
President Mahama also used the opportunity of filing his tax returns to interact with the management and staff of the Revenue Authority.

Interacting with the President, the Commissioner General, George Blankson, said the harmonization and modernization of the revenue authorities enabled them to collect a total of GH¢1.7 billion Cedis as tax last year and hoped that with more modernization procedures they would perform better.
