Former President, Jerry John Rawlings set to form new political party

Mr. & Mrs. Rawlings
Information reaching my desk indicate that former President, Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings have formed a new political party by name, National Democratic Party which is yet to be registered.
It is speculated that the formation of this party is intended to split the National Democratic Congress formed by them in 1992 and now taken over by the sitting President, John Evans Atta Mills, who was once his vice president.  The former president who championed the cause of victory for the NDC in the 2008 general elections feels he and his wife have been neglected and relegated to the background in the activities of the party.

Even though the Rawlingses are currently out of the country, information indicate that they are seriously soliciting for funds to run the party and also party faithfulls are at the grassroots mobilizing the citizenry to join the party.

However, the Electoral Commission has denied reports of any such party in their records. According to the EC, it has only registered four new political parties with the last one yet to pick up their certificate. My reporter also indicate that, the NDP leaders are all over the country in a bid to get signatures to enable proper documentation process.

Dear readers, stay glued for any development. Continue reading.

Shalom!
