For This Cause (part 2)

Imagine you woke up one day to find yourself standing before you in a more refined manner.
This is how Adam felt when he woke up from ‘coma’. He couldn’t believe his eyes who was standing before him. In fact, he saw himself in the woman, he could really sense and feel that this is himself. The mysterious aspect of Adam making this statement “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh” is that he Adam was in ‘coma’ when his rib was being taken. How he woke up to realize the woman was taken from him remains a mystery that only the Almighty can tell.
Amongst all the bones in Adam’s body, God decided to remove the best and most important to make another human being, but this time fearfully, wonderfully and more refined with exquisite features. No wonder he woke up to make this statement.
A closer look at Genesis 2:23-24 reveals that for the purpose of a man coming to the point of realization that his wife is himself in a refined state, he has to ‘leave’ his father and mother and ‘cleave’ unto his wife and they shall be ‘one’ flesh.  This is the state where a couple can truly and boldly say they are married.
My blog funs, since I have decided to share a full detail of this writing, I want us to take a closer look at a few key words in this scripture. “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh”.
1.  SHALL - Legislative acts and contracts sometimes use "shall" and "shall not" to express mandatory action and prohibition.  In other words, God is mandating a man and not a boy. A man is an adult or matured boy who can take decisions and resolutions on issues concerning life. Marriage they say, is for grown-ups or matured adults that shouldn’t be entered into unadvisedly. God mandates this man to;

2.  LEAVE his father and mother. No marriage can survive and be successful when the couples rely on their parents’ mentality and ways of doing things. No two human beings are ever the same. Therefore marriage should be entered into with a fresh and new mindset devoid of any stereotype mindedness. Many men are still clinging unto their parents’ ideologies and philosophy. A man who is used to his mother’s style of cooking and dressing should not force it down on his wife since both are different personalities. Men should not run their homes the way their fathers did or treat their wives the way they saw their fathers do. God requires that the man shall leave. This includes both physical and spiritual leaving. A lot of marriages that are run from the homes of in-laws end up on the rocks.

3.    The next aspect of this scripture is the CLEAVING. A lot of married men have left their fathers and mothers and are cleaving unto their ministries, businesses, friends, hobbies, profession etc. Hitherto, a lady will not like to marry a man of God because his work is demanding and won’t have time for his wife and family. Surely this is true because he has the church to attend to, church programmes and projects, attending to the demonized and sick sometimes at odd hours. A lot of business tycoons, great men of God and promising professionals have lost their wives to some young students who are always ‘available’ to meet the emotional needs of these ‘forgotten’ women. Some men believe that all women want is riches, if this is the case, then why do wives of very rich men still cheat on them?

In this scripture there is a LEAVING and a CLEAVING. Both go hand in hand so you can’t leave without cleaving. The leaving is as equally important as the cleaving. If a man leaves his father and mother and cleaves unto his friends he has achieved nothing. If you don’t cleave unto your wife, someone else will do that for you and before you realize, the marriage will be hitting the rocks.

4.    If a man is able to leave his parents and cleave unto his wife, automatically they will become ONE FLESH. This is the only 1+1 that is = to 1 in this whole universe. This is the state where the man cannot go to bed till his wife is asleep, where the man cannot eat till his wife is full, where the man cannot do anything till his wife is aware, where the man and woman can even exchange their phones without fear or panic, where the man cannot go out without his wife, where the man ceases to exist when his wife is no more, where the man simply cannot do without his wife.
If all men can get to this state, then marriage will be the happiest institution to enroll in. This state of perfection is where God wants us to be and truly tell ourselves that this is indeed bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.
