THE WAR AGAINST ILLEGAL DRUGS

Do you agree that the best approach to fighting illegal drugs is to cut demand?

Well, this is what Ama Amartey, the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board is asserting. She said this yesterday when she was being interviewed together with Mr. Issaque Bakuri of the Narcotics Control Board and the Director of Police CID on Talking Point being hosted by ace news reader, Ebenezer Ampaabeng of Ghana Television, GTV.

She explained that she is yet to see a company who produce goods, but do not have the clientele and still goes ahead to produce to fill its ware house.  Mr. Bakuri also reiterated the need to step up the demand reduction stragegy in order to cut, if not reduce, the export and import of these illegal drugs nationally and internationally.
